Some companies may claim to be "all natural" but it turns out that doesn't necessarily mean they are green (The Sins of Greenwashing, The Seven Sins). Fortunately, all of Better World Books' claims are straightforward and nothing appears to be a dubious claim that turns out to be false. Plus, their certifications can be easily proven with a quick Google search. The company manages to avoid the common sin of vagueness. In terms of providing information that turns out to be irrelevant to their business, Better World Books is simple. Knowing that their advocacy for literacy and recycling are their main attractions, their website doesn't focus on much else. When customers search for the Better World Books story, it's clear what they want to see. Better World Books does a good job providing only information relevant to their cause. Their focused mentality prevents them from committing the sin of irrelevance. Along with their many claims, Better World Books tries to be as honest and clear as possible, perhaps due to their history and continued confusion among customers regarding their operations cycle. In addition to trying to be as relevant as possible, Better World Books strives to publish statements that are true. With each of their claims, research proves to back them up. Despite their vagueness regarding their donations to Africa and the financing of literacy, we know that they donate their sales and their books to Africa. The only unknown aspect is the amount of their donations.
