Essay / Obesity in Texas Children - 1141
Obesity has become an epidemic among adults and children in the United States. Additionally, children are at risk of obesity because they do not eat enough fruits and vegetables and do not get enough physical activity. Additionally, children are more likely to develop obesity-related illnesses, such as hypertension, high cholesterol, stroke, heart disease, diabetes, and lung disease. Additionally, obesity among children ages one to seventeen is a problem in Texas because children are unaware of the serious consequences of obesity. Therefore, Texas should find ways to prevent obesity by allowing healthier school meals and allowing a school program to help obese children lose weight. Additionally, TV commercials encourage obese children to make unhealthy choices. Enabling healthier school meals will reduce obesity in children because it will give them adequate nutrition to reduce the risk of health problems.
