Professor Richard Dawkins: Intelligent or IgnorantRichard Dawkins is an evolutionary biologist and a prominent figure in atheism. Author of the book “The God Delusion,” Dawkins believes that the entire concept of God and Christianity is entirely man-made for our own entertainment. Dawkins is considered a pioneer of the "new atheism", which believes that the very idea of ​​religion is pure evil. Richard Dawkins' beliefs about evolution and the non-existence of God can be seen through his views on social issues, family, and the nature of God. This article will be a document of disagreement that will involve a comparison of my beliefs with his; relating to Christian principles. Dawkins' stance on societal issues stems directly from his worldview. One of the great social problems plaguing our world today would undoubtedly be pedophilia; and the effect it can have on our children. However, Dawkins has a shocking take on the situation. Dawkins said that “the most notorious cases of pedophilia involve rape and even murder, and should not be bracketed with what he calls “light editing; recent child abuse scandals have been exaggerated” (Seto, 2008). It's crazy to think that Dawkins actually believes that these pedophilia cases are endless and exaggerated. These children suffered greatly from what these evil people did to them; and their suffering should not be taken lightly. I believe that because Dawkins does not believe in Christ, his moral compass is tainted. Whereas for me, I know that God doesn't want anyone to take advantage of vulnerable children and then turn the situation around to make it seem like it's no big deal. Richard Dawkins has an interesting take on family structure and what not. he believes in the middle of a paper... with him, he does that for me. I trust that I was created in the image of God and that God loves me and cares for me; and worries about what is happening in my life. I wouldn't say this makes me needy or incapable of thriving; it's just nice to know that you have someone special and powerful by your side. Richard Dawkins is not a role model for me personally, because of his thought process and what he assumes is right or wrong; differs greatly from mine. His position on pedophilia, integrating family and religion, and the nature of God; is something I could never see myself believing. God has been way too good to me and I have seen Him do so many things in my life for me to dismiss His existence and think He is a made up fairy tale. God is alive and he works every day throughout the universe, it's so sad that Professor Dawkins can't see it.
