    Who is the real animal?Imagine being two years old, forced to run as fast as you can; your legs are broken, but you can't tell because you're loaded with illegal drugs and painkillers that make it imperceptible. Imagine you're eleven months pregnant and all you want to do is lie down, but you're tied to one place and your feet hurt because you've spent the last six months standing on concrete . Imagine your legs being intentionally injured by chemicals just so you could walk in a different way. In reality, people think it will never happen, but it does every day. Indeed, horses suffer from incessant pain from horse racing, PMU mares and aches. In horse racing, many horses often race as a year old, even though their skeletal systems are still growing and cannot handle the pressures of a life on the track. In the PMU industry, PMU mares are subjected to repeated impregnations to collect their estrogen-rich urine that postmenopausal women take. When in pain, horses are left for days with chemicals on their legs, allowing them to walk with an exaggerated gait. In short, horses suffer merciless abuse because of entertainment. This leaves people wondering... who is the real animal? Horse racing is a multi-billion dollar industry that is rich only in drug abuse, injuries and horses destined for slaughter. Horses are often raced at age one, even though their skeletal systems are still growing and cannot withstand the pressures of a track life that includes racing on a hard track at speeds of 30 mph or more. One study of racetrack injuries concluded that "one horse in 22 races suffered an injury that prevented them from completing a race, while another estimated that 3 thoro...... middle of paper . .....when will all this stop? Could it be that humans are the animals on the tracks, in shows and on farms? Despite all the attention given to all these issues, they persist. And there are always people who bet on races, who attend these shows which allow harm to be done, who buy medicines which come from PMU mares. Are horses really animals or are they victims?
