An online article published by CBS DC explains that "digital distraction is a problem involving an overwhelming number of students, with more than 90% of them admitting to using their cell phones, laptops and other devices for recreational purposes during school hours. The problem does not only concern middle school students, but also children of all grades. Cell phones are a huge distraction to their owners as well as nearby students during classes. While students are on the phone, they are not fully paying attention and absorbing the material being taught. Additionally, using a cell phone in class is very disrespectful to the teacher. The main purpose of a teacher is to teach and when there are distractions in the classroom, it becomes difficult for him to do so. When a teacher overhears a student on the phone, it shows the teacher that the student doesn't care. The teacher expects everyone to pay attention and learn what he or she is teaching. Finally, students use their cell phones to cheat in class. Cell phones have made it very easy for students to cheat, students often search the internet for answers with their phones. With the internet at a student's fingertips, it is very easy for them to search for answers. Students also tend to cheat via text messages. Students often text each other to answer tests. This impacts the student's ability to learn because they do not fully understand the
