Throughout history, writing has had many diverse uses that have allowed information to be recorded from history to the present day. Writing has gotten many different uses as to how and what we use writing today. When writing was formed in 3200 BC, it was used to record and communicate. Since then we have used writing for many matters such as recording information in which we can learn about the past, and for poetry or literature that allows people, children and adults, to read and to learn. Throughout history and today, people even use writing for religious reasons, such as writing a prayer to God or even taking note of what happened or what is discussed in the sermon. Not only has writing been revolutionized, but writing utensils have also been revolutionized. Writing utensils evolved from bone to clay to pen and pencil over thousands of years. With bone, you would scrape the bone against the clay to create the letters. With clay, cuneiform was formed and written by taking a wedge-shaped utensil and making the letters on a clay tablet. And today we use a pen and pencil to take notes, write information, and communicate. So yes, writing has improved a lot since its formation by the Sumerians in 3200 BC. We have moved from clay to paper and have many different kinds of writing. writings that people today can use and develop; like cuneiform and hieroglyphics from thousands of years ago. Here nowadays we even engage in various types of literary writing such as fiction, non-fiction, science, etc. to create different feelings in the reader. The Sumerians created writing in 3200 BC, which at the time was used for recording and communication.
