Madness creeps through the zombie apocalypse as a man loses himself in a vain attempt to save the woman he loves. The Act IA party is raging in typical, out-of-town parents, high school fashion. FRANK stands with a beer in his hand, alone against a wall, watching KELLY across the party, who has her arms around a guy sipping a beer from a can. Finishing the beer and headbutting the can repeatedly, he “WHOO” as the party applauds. JOEL arrives and tries to save Frank by asking him to forget about him for a night and just enjoy the party. Frank laments Kelly's choice of men and wishes he could just be with her for one night. Through it all, a TV news story talks about a new disease that involves taking lives, reanimating the dead, and spreading the undead. A news report shows cities being invaded and warning people to stay indoors as zombies take over TV news. At dusk, Sixth Street in Erie PA is littered with abandoned cars and dead bodies. Frank and Joel walk cautiously down the street, searching through cars and surroundings for a place that might offer shelter. They come across a small local pharmacy that appears secure when a female zombie grabs and bites Joel. As they fight back, Frank realizes that the zombie is Kelly. The pharmacy is occupied by owners LEE and KARA who don't want to let them in, but after much pleading, they let them in as a horde of zombies begins to approach the boys. Frank throws his jacket over Kelly's head and brings her over. The boys explain to Lee and Kara that Kelly is Frank's sister and that she was bitten. Lee argues and wants them to leave; however, his wife wants to help the boys and he eventually agrees. They tie Kelly up in the back room. Joel and Frank's argument spills into the main store and Lee is informed of what Frank has done. Lee attacks Frank and they roll until Frank pulls out the gun and shoots Lee. Frank laughs and kicks Lee as he lies dying, and he puts the gun down and shouts to Joel that he needs help. During the fight, Kelly escaped and by the time Frank opens the back room door, she is on top of him biting his neck. Frank doesn't mind who laughs calling it love and the fact that they can now be together forever. Joel, transforming into a zombie, sees the entirety of Frank's illness and crawls to the gun. The cannon aims at Kelly's head then Frank then back and forth between the two, as he cries, and the darkness of undeath takes over, the trigger is pulled..
