Some accreditation programs include NAEYC, The National Association for the Education of Young Children, NECPA, National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (Douglass 89-94); and Pennsylvania-specific, Keystone Stars. If a child care center receives NAYEC accreditation, then it constitutes the crème de la crème of early childhood programs. Parents recognize NAEYC accreditation as a mark of high quality and are more likely to send their child to this daycare. NAEYC accredited centers have a stronger team of teachers, administrators, and families working together to improve the quality of children (Why NAEYC Accreditation). NECPA child care accreditation also encourages families to register their center because they know their child will receive quality care. This accreditation program assesses the quality of adult-child interaction, staff supervision, health and safety; the physical environment, administration and relations between parents and the community (Encourage quality, Recognize excellence). Keystone Stars is a continuous quality improvement program. It has four star levels, one meaning just beginning and four meaning highest quality. Keystone Stars establishes requirements for early childhood education programs to promote the best learning environment and safest setting possible for every child. A Keystone Stars program provides children with individual attention, daily learning activities, a safe, friendly and respectful environment; self-esteem, well-trained staff, and parent and community involvement (A Parent's Guide to Choosing Quality Child Care). They are also the most socially and emotionally competent. Additionally, these children demonstrate higher verbal and intellectual development during early childhood than children who do not participate in early learning programs (Parent's Guide to Choosing Quality Child Care). For a daycare to be a quality daycare, it must have trained staff, program accreditation, and good health and safety practices. Parents choose high-quality child care for many reasons. These programs prepare children for school where they learn intellectual and social skills. The programs also provide a good opportunity for children as they receive age-appropriate learning materials and activities to enable children to learn and grow..
