Essay / How Literature Changed in American Literature

His first story after his freedom was “The Narrative Life of Fredrick Douglass,” which was one of the most famous and influential stories in American literature. In his story, he presents himself as a hero, who had the ability to read and write, which inspired him in his efforts from living as a slave to becoming a free man.
