Essay / Alabama Moon by Watt Key - 1127
Soapstone: Alabama MoonCharacters: In the novel Alabama Moon, a boy named Moon is the main character. Moon is very independent as throughout the story he does many things on his own, including living alone. On page 3, I found out he was ten years old because it said, "I was ten years old and he taught me everything I needed to know about living in the forest." » So that showed me that he knew how to live alone in the forest and that he was ten years old, which was young enough to live alone in the forest. At first, when Moon was scared and lonely without his father, he was aggressive towards the other characters. On page 27, Moon really showed his anger towards Mr. Abroscotto: “I felt the anger rush through my head. I jumped onto the seat of my chair and jumped over the counter and landed on Mr. Abroscotto. He fell back onto the shelves behind him and I started hitting him with the hand that wasn't holding him. I punched him on the cheek again and again as fast as I could. Once he regained his balance, he tightened his arms around me so I couldn't move my fists. Moon gets angry when someone talks bad about his father, so he decides to try to beat them up. Moon is also willing to do what he thought his father wanted him to do. Like when he wanted to go to Alaska because that's where his father told him to go after he died. On pages 25 and 26, Moon was talking to Mr. Abroscotto and asking him where his was going: "Where are you going when you leave here?" Alaska. How do you plan to get to Alaska? Sell the watch and items in this box. And I still have money left from the last time we were here. I see. What are you going to do once you get there? Pap said there were other people like us there. He said you were in the middle of paper......paragraphs above. Why did the author do this? The author of the story Alabama Moon did this because they wanted the story to contain all of these things. . The author wanted to do it in the first person because he wanted the main character to tell the story through his point of view. The author wanted the conflict to go from very strong to very little because he wanted to make it interesting. The author created all of these vocabulary words in the story to make it not too difficult for the reader, but not too easy, to the point of getting lost as well. The author has put the story in paragraph form so that the reader can read the book easily and follow it like any other book. The author also created all the textual evidence for the story so that the reader could follow along very well and get all the information they needed. This is why the author did all these things.
