Essay / My Experience of Living in an Unfamiliar Country
This essay is about my life experiences when moving from Jordan to the United States. At the age of seven, I moved to Amman, Jordan with my family. I have lived in Jordan for a long time and have not become a Jordanian citizen, but it is my second home for me. I didn't think it was difficult to live in Jordan like others who find it a difficult life experience. I learned that living away from my country can be a really interesting and unforgettable life experience. The society and culture was not much different from my own culture. I made a lot of new friends and they are still my friends today. What I miss most about living in Jordan is being able to leave my house, walk to a nearby Marketplace store, and walk to school. Get the original essay When I moved to the United States from Jordan for 10 years in 2009, I experienced culture shock. I felt so frustrated, homesick (for Jordan), nervous and unhappy with my surroundings. It was very difficult for me living in the United States to deal with people who were not the same as me. One of the culture shocks I encountered in the United States was the food, because living in a new environment made it difficult for me to adapt to foods, especially since the United States has a lot of fast food restaurants compared to Middle Eastern countries. The second factor that affects me is the language. I had no idea what people were saying to me. It was so difficult to deal with people who didn't always speak my language. Learning English has been a huge challenge for me and even though I don't speak it very well, I can say that I'm proud to be able to understand and speak it now. The experiences living in the United States ultimately shaped who I am today and how I perceive the world. I learned that learning a new culture adds a different dimension to me. It helps me to be more open and accepting of how others do things, and it also allows me to see a different side of life. For example, I spent more time in nature than ever before, I also tried foods I had never heard of and learned their language. I learned that my perspective, my ideas and my ways of doing things only really change when I live in a new country. Additionally, I feel a sense of accomplishment in moving to the United States. It took me out of my comfort zone with all my fears. This allows me to have the ability to control and change my situation. Additionally, I can make life happen despite challenges, fears and expectations because challenges allow me to flourish and the challenge of moving to the United States not only allows me to see a very different, but it also creates opportunities for international achievement. levels. Now I realize that moving to the United States has a positive impact on my life because it helps me learn more about myself like never before and realize my potential and my ability to adapt and adapt to my new environment.
