Essay / A religion favorable to researchers? - 1057
Religion favorable to researchers? The “researcher-friendly” movement is very controversial in our time. This is the idea that the Church should appeal to unbelievers in search and respond to their felt needs. The question is whether or not this “seeker-friendly” idea is biblical, and whether church pastors should lead in this direction. According to the Bible, which should be the ultimate authority for all church leaders, this is completely unbiblical. One could argue that it is unethical, from a biblical perspective, for a pastor to lead in a “seeker friendly” field. They absolutely must be realistic with their audiences and reveal the essential truths of the Bible. The fact is that this movement must be crushed by the truth that can only be found in the Word of God. There are two main reasons why this seemingly good idea is just a wolf in sheep's clothing. The first reason it would be unethical for preachers to be “seeker sensitive” in their leadership and preaching is that it goes against what the Bible says about this idea. unbelievers. This whole idea is based on the assumption that unfaithful unbelievers are actually seeking God. The Bible says very clearly: “There is none righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks God; all have turned away together, they have become useless; there is none that does good, there is not even one” (Romans 3:10-12). Without going into the even more controversial subject of predestination, you must agree that man, in his natural sinful state, cannot seek God. God must first reveal himself to man. What lost people seek is not God. It’s peace of mind, relief from guilt, and deeper meaning in their lives. They seek God's blessings, while fleeing from Him in pursuit of their own selfish gain. Therefore, if preachers only speak messages that attract large crowds and meet the felt needs of the lost, then they are giving a false sense of security. They do not bring people to a true knowledge of the gospel. Ultimately, they lead them away from salvation in Christ by blinding them with blaring music and emotion-filled messages. The Church does not need to learn doctrines that have been changed to suit their own personal needs..
