  • Essay / How My Writing Has Changed - 3155

My writing styles have changed dramatically over the last four years of high school. This memo will explain how my writing has changed and how my writing skills have improved. Aspects of My High School Writing During my high school English classes, I learned a lot from writing simple journals, research papers, and a single essay. In high school, I was laid back and procrastinated a lot of my work. During the latter part of high school, when I was writing my final year paper, I found that working a little bit every evening by writing a few paragraphs helped me a lot. I wasn't just preparing something just to get the grade and complete the assignment. I spent time on the paper and my grade, a B+, reflected my efforts. My resources were limited and the topic covered a topic that I didn't find interesting at all. When I find something interesting to write about, that's when I can do my best. When I wrote my essay, I was not interested in the topic of the essay. I started searching for information and wrote my article successfully. When I wrote many of my articles, I tried to be as organized as possible. Writing research papers always seems to give me problems. My biggest weakness is going to the library and finding the right information to write a paper. When I write an article, I always construct an outline or a thesis. It's easier for me to think of ideas and then write about them. Starting an article from scratch without a plan or thesis causes me problems because I then mumble pretty much the same information. I learned to read information over and over to make sure it is correct and in order. I don't want to get to the middle of paper...to pursue it and live a healthy and successful life. My educational goals are important to me. My goals are to graduate from English 100 and be able to write any type of memo, document or CV; because I know that one day each of these writing projects will become useful. I didn't come here to get average grades; I came here to get the best grades possible. Even though some of my works sometimes don't show the best qualities, I always do my best. Other goals I have relate to this English class. I hope to learn from you how to write memos, which I currently do, and also teach others how to write, possibly for jobs or something else important. I don't want to waste my money over the next four years, so I'm going to study and write all my papers as best I can. I am very happy to be here at BVU and I will make my stay here worth it..
