  • Essay / my father - 702

When I thought of the servant speakers in my life, I immediately thought of my father. My father is a servant for many different reasons. He is a great role model for me. He shows patience, tranquility and kindness. He also speaks up to advocate for people and is excellent when it comes to multicultural speaking. When I think of her patience, I think back to when I was a little girl. I was an extremely picky little girl when it came to food (especially when it came to tomatoes or meat). I just didn't like to eat unless the food was sweet. A rule in our house was that the children could not leave the table until all the food had been eaten on the plates. For this reason, I often sat at the table for hours munching on my food. Since I was not a good eater, I always had to sit at the table next to my father because he was very patient with me and was able to convince me to eat. He is an excellent example of a peacemaker. My family is a missionary family. For this reason, we are often surrounded by antagonistic people. A story that comes to mind about him took place in Mexico in the late 70s. My mother and father were church planters there. Back then, there were two groups of people you shouldn't get on the wrong side of: the police and the soldiers. Both were very corrupt. The police had a reputation for extorting money from people for no reason, threatening them with imprisonment or violence. The military was a little less corrupt (but still corrupt), the government sent them into the villages to keep the police in check. Now my mother and father stood out in the villages where they founded churches, I mean, they were gringos. To stay at peace with both groups, the police and the military, my father would go play basketball with them, and invite...... middle of paper ...... ily's friends are of a culture or from a different country. Because he knows what it feels like to be a foreigner, he is able to relate to people of all ethnic groups and cultures. He opened a Bible school about four years ago for Hispanic leaders who have no training and are already serving. Because he is sensitive to cultural differences and adapted the program to their culture, the Bible school is a great success. Because he is so gifted at communicating multiculturally, he has planted churches among diverse people. He founded churches for Gypsies, for rejected Amish, for Mexican tribes, for the mentally unstable, for ex-drug addicts and even for convicts in a maximum security prison! He understands and loves marginalized people, so they tend to gravitate towards him. Not only is my father a role model for me as a servant orator, but he is also my superhero..
