Essay / Global Climate Change - 888
Climate changes caused by global warming have already begun to affect people around the world in ways no one ever imagined. Increasing temperatures have both positive and negative effects in different regions, where increasing temperatures could be a benefit in some areas while a threat in others. Therefore, solutions aimed at resolving the effects have resulted in other disasters such as diseases. Furthermore, the impact has shifted the goals of most countries from focusing on development to finding solutions to endless problems. In most cases, it is the poor or most populations with limited resources who suffer the most serious consequences to which they are not the contributors. Climate change has altered many social issues across the world, leading to conflict, although in an effort to provide solutions, nations have come together in solidarity. Climate changes, particularly those caused by global warming, are causing several conflicts, mainly in developing countries where migration is evolving. People in developing countries do not have the means or resources to adapt to global climate change. Most must migrate to other regions where the impact of climate change is less (Reuveny, 2005). Conflict theory suggests that the behavior of individuals in social contexts inevitably results from conflicts between groups competing for the same resources. In developing regions, conflicts are likely to arise from conflicts over scarce resources, including food and the means to adapt to climate change. This has given rise to many social changes in these countries where people have to look for every possible way to solve their problems. On the other hand, global warming is affecting...... middle of paper ...... effects on many populations across the world, causing desperate measures to be implemented. However, most of the impact is felt in the poorest countries, which lack the means and resources to adapt to the changes. In these areas, conflicts over resources are exacerbated as people seek better means of survival. The majority of climate change involves agriculture and changing weather conditions which (DeWeerdt, 2007) affect migration in affected areas. Many countries have had to change their goals to focus on solving problems caused by climate change such as drought and famine. The need to solve the problem has brought nations around the world together around a similar goal, strengthening solidarity. However, interdependence has seen developing countries rely heavily on developed countries in many areas, including ideologies..
