  • Essay / Reflective Essay on Reading - 910

We started having a set course mainly focused on literature. With the added course, we began to have more responsibility for our reading assignments. We were required to read 20 minutes per day, with a total of 100 minutes per week. We kept track of this with a reading log that our parent would have to sign, guaranteeing that we had completed the assignment. After each book we read, we then completed book reports. At the time, I didn't particularly like the book reviews, but looking back, I realize that they really challenged me not only to read the book, but also to study, log in and understand the text. In middle school, my teacher read many different and thought-provoking texts to us. As a class, we dissected the pieces to interact and understand what the author was describing. To Kill A Mockingbird was one of the books we read where we completely annotated the entire story. In each part, we all broke down the text so that we could completely understand the time period and history behind the book. To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my favorite books I've read so far. Overall, college was the pike of my literate life. It was during these years that I could say that I fell in love with books and fully understood the meaning of the author's writing.
