    I believe that because once you receive your grades in college, no one needs to know except you and your professor. His parents eventually stopped asking him about his grades because, as Crucet previously stated, they no longer had context and his parents didn't understand (Crucet 4/5). I think she's saying that whatever grades you get, the work you put into your homework has a larger context which is simply telling your parents the specific grade you receive. I think she came to the conclusion that this new, new college experience was her own experience and that she didn't have to tell anyone, not even her classmates, what her grades were. This was new for me too, because in the past I always told my parents about my grades and my classmates about what my grades were.
