Essay / The world produces enough food to feed everyone Discussion
Why is there hunger when the world produces ten percent more food than is needed to sustain our hunger? There should be enough food to feed the entire world population of seven billion people. And it is estimated that today, one in seven people in the world still suffers from hunger. So why does hunger exist when we are able to produce more food to meet the needs of all of us? What are the causes of hunger in the world? There are many different reasons why we face hunger. Poverty, agriculture, infrastructure, natural disasters, wars and conflicts are the four main causes of world hunger. Underdeveloped countries account for 98 percent of world hunger. Hunger is commonly passed from mothers to infants, and 17 million children are born underweight due to their mothers being underweight. When the mother suffers from malnutrition during pregnancy, the baby is usually born malnourished as well. Women are said to suffer more from malnutrition than men, and around sixty percent of those who suffer from hunger in the world are women, twenty percent more than men. In developing countries, one in six infants is born with low birth weight. . In addition, poor nutrition is responsible for almost half of deaths among children under five. Three million children die every year because of poor nutrition. It is estimated that every ten seconds, a child dies from hunger-related illnesses. Global perspective Poverty is one of the main drivers of hunger. Until now, many little children and parents suffer from poverty. Additionally, little is being done to reduce or end poverty. Speaking of poverty, there are 1.4 billion people in developing countries who live on $1.25 or less per day per...... middle of paper ... edible. What we can do at home is finish all the food purchased, so that it does not expire. Personal response: The information I discovered during my research made me feel bad for the people who could not afford to feed themselves and were experiencing hunger and malnutrition. They suffer every day and eventually die; This is very heartbreaking news for all of us. From what I've read, I don't think there's any bias, and it's pretty reliable. com_content&task=view&id=64&Itemid=88https://www.thp.org/learn_more/issues/know_your_world_facts_about_hunger_and_povertyhttp://gccblogs.concernusa.org/2011/10/21/top-5-causes-of-hunger/http:// www.philstar.com/headlines/2013/05/22/945070/sws-hunger-rises-among-pinoy-families
