Under the Overpass This was the story of a man named Mike and how he found God. Even whether or not you believe in God himself, I believe this book will touch your heart either way. Mike was an upperclassman who was very successful in his life. He had money, education, respect, and overall he had a good life. He was considered a Christian and even attended a Christian collage. He had grown up in the Church and was what most people considered the perfect American citizen. Yet one day, while attending a church service on the theme of being the kind of person you say you are, he began to question himself. Was he really the person he claimed to be? Or did he just move on with his life and only focus on what made him happy? Does being a “good” Christian just mean going to a church and listening? Investing your money in different “Christian” organizations and judging those that are different from you? Or does being the Christian you say you are mean helping people we all ignore and actually relying on God, instead of going to Him when you have no choice? These were just a few of the many things Mike had begun to question about his life. He wanted to be challenged both in his life and in his faith. He wanted to know that his faith was real, that he could literally depend on God and God alone. Unlike his life, his work and school are in the foreground and God is in the background. He never literally needed to depend on God, but he wanted to and he needed to. He had then discovered a way to do all of this, and a way to find God in a way that he would know is real. Although considered strange and in many cases looked down upon, he knew he had to do it. Mike would become homeless for a period of 5 months. With nothing but his backpack and a sleeping bag. No food and no money. He would literally try to live from God. But he wouldn't do it alone and so he needed to find someone as crazy as him. What Mike wanted was a travel partner, someone to keep him company..
