    Many subtle battles between good and evil have been fought since the dawn of time. Whether it is wars between cultures or countries in real life, great literary battles or final battles in the movies, the conflict never ends. This fact is evident in the film The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon. As a group of heroes brought together to save the world, the Avengers obviously represent good. Loki and his army of aliens represent evil as they attempt to conquer Earth. Throughout the film, the Avengers constantly fight against Loki in order to maintain power over Earth. They encounter Loki in a final battle against him and his alien army where they fight for control of the world. Following the pattern laid out by history, the Avengers, Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Both authors similarly demonstrate the theme through their use of characterization to show a character's transformation from good to evil. However, the novels differ in that, even though one character's change, Lucy's, is involuntary, Dr. Jekyll makes the choice to change. Additionally, Dracula and The Curious Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde illustrate the theme using the conflict between the forces of good and evil. They contrast in the type of conflict they use. Additionally, the theme is commonly expressed by both authors through the use of a mentally ill character showing their vulnerability to the side of evil. However, the characters differ in who they are presented as vulnerable towards. Similar to the film, The Avengers, Dracula, and The Curious Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde feature the theme of a constant battle between the opposing sides of good and evil. Bram Stoker expresses the theme best through his novel Dracula. A natural battle between the opposing sides of good and evil has existed since the dawn of time, and it seems that as long as the Earth continues to spin, the battle will never continue..
