Music has aided the human rights movement for centuries by helping people address certain issues in difficult times. Music is a special way to help people move, to help them take action, to keep them alive despite the difficult times they are going through. However, this music would not be possible without the artist and composers who create it. Sam Cook was born on January 22, 1931, while he was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, he was raised in Chicago. His musical career began with a group called Soul Stirrers, a gospel group. Six years later, Cook found himself in a solo career producing numerous musical hits. Thirty years into his musical career, he found himself signing contracts and recording records.
