Usually from the high school I graduated from, boys and girls would race to see who would be victorious in the classroom. There were slackers on both sides. What I could understand from the article saying that "girls read more books" (60), in my case they were doing it in the class work assigned to them, girls were the first to start and to complete the given work. I didn't want to be part of the percentage of kids who weren't pulling their own weight. I also noticed in Sommers' article that there was a dropout list for boys. Boys at my old school usually dropped out before their senior year. “Boys also dominate school dropout lists, failure lists and learning disability lists..”
