An example where this theme is presented is in “The Rescue” by Nicholas Sparks. In this book, Taylor McAden is a volunteer firefighter who deals daily with the pain of losing his father at a young age. Due to the circumstances, Taylor blames herself for her father's death, and the pain seems to be a part of her life forever. However, as he saves countless lives as a firefighter and falls in love with Denise Holton, he slowly begins to forgive himself. Denise helps him understand himself in a way he never thought possible and she helps him heal his pain little by little. (Sparks 1-420) Many people believe that love is the most powerful pain healer, and although it is a very common solution to pain, it is not the only thing which cures pain. Another thing that is very effective in treating pain. it is justice. When people feel they have been wronged, justice, whether small or large, makes the person suffering feel better and often begins a healing process. In the novel “Just Take My Heart” by Mary Higgins Clark, Alice Mills feels the pain of losing her daughter in the worst way. Alice's daughter has been murdered and she desperately wants the person who killed her daughter to be taken into custody. As the book progresses, she seems even more desperate to find the killer. In the end, Alice finally finds peace when the murderer is arrested, and the very end of the book presents her thoughts on the situation, and she finally feels like she can move on with her life. (Clark 1-385) Alice feels this way because she has received justice for her daughter's death and knows that the killer has been punished. Faith is often used as a way to overcome the pain that people face, whether it involves faith. in God or in something else. In the biblical book of Job, Job is a man who has good faith in God and is tested in ways that most people would never be able to handle. He loses almost everything he owns, including his family. However, through his extraordinary faith in God to meet his needs and care for him, he gets through this difficult time and is subsequently blessed with more than he started with. (“Quest Study Bible NIV” 705-756) Artists in many musical genres often illustrate through words the trials of pain that occur in life. An example of this, although there are several others, is A Little Bit Stronger by Sara Evans. In this song, the writer talks about an ordeal that most people go through more than once in their lives: the pain of someone you love who breaks your heart. The song is about a woman who has been seriously hurt in this way, but she knows that no matter how much it hurts, things will get better. She knows that with time, she will be able to completely move on and become stronger. She has a strong will. It is this, over time, that helps him to..
