  • Essay / Persuasive Essay on Animal Abuse - 878

People all over the world have become attached to animals and keep majority of them as pets in their homes. Animals don't know what is right or wrong and should not be blamed for their actions. Many people mistreat animals like dogs and cats simply because they are angry or because the animal did something it wasn't supposed to do. Animal shelters in the United States have mistreated and killed animals simply because there was not enough room in the shelter. In the United States, shelters mistreat animals with impunity and usually get away with a slap on the wrist. These actions are disgusting and it should be illegal to kill animals in the shelter simply because there is not “enough room” to put them there. Animal cruelty may play a larger role than in animal shelters. The influence of children is one of the main reasons why animal shelters should stop abusing and killing animals. Children see the abuse and killing of animals in shelters on television and they start to think it's normal to do it. Even on the news, they mention incidents of shelters mistreating their animals and killing them simply because there wasn't "enough room" to accommodate more animals. Animal shelters influence children in a certain way because they kill animals for more space and say it's okay. Later, the children begin to mistreat their animals and, in some cases, kill their animals. Children believe that what they are doing is reasonable because they have seen the news or a television show killing or mistreating animals in shelters. Animals like pets have feelings and some can even have human characteristics. Animals are alive and they may feel like we can do it but they can't talk so why is it okay for shelters to mistreat them or kill them for no reason middle of paper..... If animal welfare groups and animal shelters came together in the United States, the number of animal killings and abuses in shelters would decrease significantly. The more animals we rescue from shelters, the greater the chance they will find a home with a family. In conclusion, rescuing animals from shelters will benefit children and also give the animals a chance to find a family they can belong to. If animal shelters stopped killing their animals simply because there wasn't "enough space", then perhaps some of the children influenced by animal shelters would not become murderers or violent people. People coming together and fighting against shelters for their actions can only help put an end to the abuse and killing of animals. Animals do not deserve to be treated the way they are in the majority of shelters in the United States..
