Since the 1970s, a minimum standard for parking requirements has been established in Malaysia. Most municipalities have used standard requirements in their design and construction process. In general, the parking system can be divided into two different main standards. The first type of parking system is mainly known as traditional parking system. For the second type, it is mainly known as an alternative to the traditional parking system. For traditional parking system, it provides free parking system. This system has been widely criticized.
