As a current member of GIRLS Power as a mentor, I felt this social issue was close to my heart. I sincerely believe that this organization greatly helps girls realize their self-esteem and potential. During the difficult times of adolescence, girls face many difficult issues such as: school, body image, self-esteem, social life, family life, etc. With so much going on, it's difficult to regain control of life, and not always easy to ask for help. At GIRLS Power, they make life easier to take control of by tackling problems head on. GIRLS Power creates a group where issues can be discussed openly and in a safe environment. This can easily become a societal problem if proper help is not provided to young girls. The problem with GIRLS Power is that it only targets the middle school age group. This prevents GIRLS Power from truly making a difference in women's lives. I propose a plan to help as many women as possible in specific areas to help them move forward in life or get back on track.
