  • Essay / Strengths, values and areas for improvement in the...

Part I. Strengths My two strengths in the profession of arms are orientation and recognition. I am good at giving instructions because I am very detailed and specific in the way of giving orders (KAI theory). Providing good direction in deliberate leadership will help provide subordinates with a well-thought-out plan to develop them into future leaders. My methodical approach discovered in the Team Dimension profile will also be a great advantage when trying to develop a step-by-step plan. When giving instructions for a task or plan, I try not to assume that people already know things, especially if it's something new or hasn't been discussed in a while. time. I also give my subordinates the opportunity to ask questions and make sure they fully understand the task before leaving the conversation. I also believe it is important to recognize your people. Recognizing your colleagues for their deliberate leadership will help motivate and encourage subordinates on their journey as they strive to achieve their goals. I worked hard last year to ensure that my colleagues could benefit from awards and programs. Recognizing your employees shows that you recognize and appreciate their contributions to the organization. Two of my strengths that I discovered through Full Range Development Leadership (FRDL) which is part of transformational leadership were individualized consideration and inspirational motivation. Since transformational leadership is the most active and effective form of leadership, according to the Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy Student Guide, it is essential to have certain strengths within the FRDL when it comes to leadership deliberate. Individualized consideration is where leaders become a mentor or coach and can hear their subordinate...... middle of paper...... wonder and discover their long-term goals. I would also do some research and make sure I knew what was going on in the Air Force. I would evaluate what the Air Force needs versus my subordinate's desires and see if we could align the two. Then I would design a deliberate leadership plan that we could both follow to help the subordinate get to where they would like to be. Additionally, I would implement inspirational motivation by doing follow-ups to check the progress of the plan and continue to motivate them to achieve their goals. Finally, I would use idealized influence to try to set the best possible example for the individual by increasing my moral behavior, character, and work ethic in order to encourage that member to do the same. This will help them be prepared to continue meeting standards in their new job..
