  • Essay / Reflecting on Worldview as a Christian Theist - 1512

Reflecting on WorldviewI began this course thinking that my worldview was that of a Christian theist, as I had discovered , as the course progressed, my worldview was a mixture of beliefs outside the basic belief of Christian theism. I was not discouraged by this discovery, but surprised. I then realized that I was not educated or knew God like I thought I did. In fact, my beliefs seemed to be more influenced by society than by the divinity of God. Fortunately, this is a learning experience intended to bring me closer to the truths of Christianity and an understanding of the beliefs of others. What is the primary reality, the truly real? The truly real is God, and knowing that he is sovereign (Sire, 2009, p. 30), we can understand that he is in control and that he will always be interested in his creations, being man and universe. Although I do not agree with the primary reality of deism where God moves to the first cause of everything (Sire, 2009, p. 51), I can understand how some may think that. In the current state of the world, human reason (Sire, 2009, p. 48) tells us that either God is only in nature (Sire, 2009, p. 50), or he does not exist at all. , or he would step in and stop. acts of violence and other forms of human tragedy. God chooses not to interfere in the affairs of man simply because He has given us the free will to choose good and evil; we are therefore left to our own devices. It is only through the power of prayer that God will intervene. Sometimes his answers aren't what we want to hear, if at all. It is easy to understand how a person could progress from deism to the nothingness of nihilism (Sire, 2009, p. 94) and to the equivalence of God (Sire, 2009, p. 179) in the New Age, where God does not Nothing. t...... middle of paper ......Elemental biblical Christianity has been distorted by both Catholics and Protestants, dating back to the time of the Reformation and the Roman Emperor Constantine. As a result, various denominations and belief systems have evolved over the centuries. My own sister-in-law, who was once a Christian, broke away from Christian belief and became a Wiccan. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Metaphysics and serves as a Priestess and Metaphysical Advisor. She doesn't hide why she changed her beliefs; the man bastardized Christianity for her. Our God continually gets a bad rap, mostly because of the ignorance of others, only if they were shown the real story, perhaps these other belief systems wouldn't exist or be less credible.
