Jack the Ripper is one of the most famous serial killers of all time. Although everyone knows the name "Jack the Ripper", no one really knows his true identity. When the murder victims were found, the press and detectives were never able to put a name to the crime. Jack the Ripper is a mythical figure comparable to Frankenstein and Dracula. The first three whores murdered by the Rippers, in 1888, were allegedly the work of the same person. These murder victims all appeared to occur around the parish church of Sainte-Marie, also known as “the White Chapel”. (Fido…1) “Jack the Ripper” was the name given to an unidentified serial killer in the White Chapel area of London in 1888. The name comes from a letter left at the crime scene, written by someone 'one claiming to be the killer. . The letter was thought to be a joke and to have been written by a journalist in a deliberate attempt to generate interest in the investigation. It was said that Jack the Ripper would leave letters describing him as the murderer. Sometimes the letters were put into poetic form, while others exclaimed in detail about what he had done. The letters were carefully worded and seemed pleasantly disturbing, but no one knew who they came from. Investigators and many others believed the purpose of these letters was to frighten or even play on the emotions of the victim's family and friends. It is said that all the murders were accompanied by a letter outraged the police. (Fido…10) One of the most famous letters was the letter “From Hell”. This letter was received by George Lusk of the White Chapel Vigilance Committee. The letter included half of a preserved kidney that Jack the Ripper had taken from one of his victims. They were all murdered around the White Chapel area , and were all relatively close to each other. As the killer was never truly found, the investigation turned into a historical search. It was so important that the search for Jack the Ripper became known as. the name Ripperology So if the world will ever know the true identity of the killer of all killers, it will still be under study.
