Essay / An Argument Against Abortion - 932
An Argument for a Pro-Life Position on Abortion More than 40 million babies have been legally aborted since 1972. In 1972, the Roe v. Wade case was brought before the Supreme Court and is one of the most controversial issues regarding women's civil rights. The case concerned the right to choose to have an abortion to end a pregnancy. Most feminist groups supported this cause since women felt it was their body and their choice whether or not to have a baby. It's not a choice, he's a child, and it's wrong and cruel. Abortion is the murder of an innocent baby and should be illegal in the United States. Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy before the baby is capable of leading an independent life. So it’s the end of a person’s life. Abortion ends a pregnancy by destroying and eliminating the developing child. It stops the beating of an innocent child's heart, which has already started beating 18-25 days after conception. Most abortions occur between 6 and 10 weeks. During the baby's life, all parts of the brain and spinal cord are formed, the heart pumps blood to all parts of the body, the whole body is sensitive to touch, and facial expressions are created. In Tennessee, abortions are legal and anyone can receive one at a Planned Parenthood office very easily. For girls under 18, a parent is required, unless the girl benefits from a judicial bypass, which allows her to have an abortion without her parents' consent. Planned Parenthood nurses give girls the information they need to get a legal bypass. It is absurd that a 16 year old girl can go to an abortion clinic and have an abortion without her parents' consent. Abortions at Planned Parenthood range from $375 to $525 and appointments can be made over the phone. Americans work hard to pay their taxes and the government spends their tax dollars to fund facilities that are killing future Americans. Different types of abortions include surgical, chemical and partial abortions. The most common surgical abortions are vacuum aspiration which is performed with a machine that uses a vacuum to suck the baby out of the uterus. Another surgical type is dilation and curettage. In this procedure, the mother's cervix is dilated and a curette with a long shaft is scraped along the sides of the uterus to dislodge the baby..
