Essay / Characteristics of the President's Essay - 1545
Lincoln showed his quality as a public servant by "letting random citizens come and talk to him about why he makes the decisions he makes, and he reassures that he has their best interests in mind. ยป I believe Lincoln was one of the best presidents as a public servant. Lincoln truly cared about what his people had to say, what they thought about certain things, and how they behaved in their lives. Imagine if Lincoln didn't take people's opinions into account and did everything on his own? he would not be known as one of the greatest presidents our country has ever known. He did things to gain equal rights between blacks and whites, which was something blacks were demanding at the time. He sat outside and talked to hundreds and hundreds of people, when in reality he had none either. Lincoln was committed to serving the greater good of the people. By focusing on this, it revolutionized and forever changed a nation for generations to come. Bill Clinton is also an example of a president who had civil servant qualities in him. He demonstrated this by saying: "he was very serious about balancing the federal budget and working with the business world, without abandoning the needs of the poor." Plus the fact that President Clinton is one of the most serious presidents of our time. He wanted to get things done and was very firm in some of his beliefs..
