  • Essay / The advantages and disadvantages of the hydrogen bomb - 1173

What if the world we lived in was no longer safe? The decision whether or not to create a hydrogen bomb calls into question the security of not only a country, but the entire world. Although there are many reasons why someone would say that the creation of the hydrogen bomb is important, it is not. If created, it would cause a greater degree of mass destruction of civilization than the atomic bomb. The bomb would also have unpredictable effects on the environment and change the nature of foreign policy. The atomic bomb left devastating consequences in Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War II. The two bombs that landed in Japan ending World War II killed thousands of innocent Japanese citizens, left radiation on the country and among the few survivors. An example of this is the Athenian Empire, the Athenians had great power, which caused them to take action. in their own interest when it came to Melos' refusal to become part of the Athenian empire. When Melos refused to join the empire, the Athenians killed all men of military age and enslaved women and children to show their power. This same power is provided by the hydrogen bomb and has the capacity to transform the United States into a country with similar self-interests. The hydrogen bomb led by a self-interested country will create great fear in other countries, potentially lead to the genocide of different groups, and could even lead to the destruction of humanity. It has the capacity to have significant effects on civilization and nature. we cannot yet understand. The hydrogen bomb has the power to harm the atmosphere: "It is possible that the radioactivity released by a small number of these bombs will pollute the Earth's atmosphere to a dangerous extent" (p. 2). The atmosphere is vital for the survival of the entire world. Without the atmosphere, life on Earth would cease to exist, and damaging the Earth's atmosphere would harm all humans, not just a country's enemies. Damage to Earth's atmosphere also means that even more radioactivity will not only be in our air, but will also be dumped into our soil and water supplies, affecting what our bodies breathe and absorb. The power of the hydrogen bomb to create vast global problems is extremely dangerous for everyone, especially since it will leave problems unsolvable for generations, since we do not yet have the knowledge to solve them.
