Essay / Contributions from Google Inc
Google Inc. contributes daily to our society, through many of its ingenious ideas and objects. Although it may seem like the majority of our technology comes from big companies like Microsoft or Apple, that's not always true. A huge invention of Google Inc. is the modern search engine. Google also created The Cloud, Android phones, Google Chrome and many other applications. Google.com, or Google for short, is the most widely used search engine in the world. Google's search engine can help you locate things like directions, stores, article ideas, and more. Now many people ask: "How does a search engine work?" Well, I'll tell you (Preview). Google calls them “Google Bots”. The job of a Google Bot is simple; they search the Internet for keywords and URLs to build indexes. Google organizes all the information reported by robots and creates an index. These indexes contain information about all websites visited by the robots, the keywords used to define the information, and the URL. Google maintains this massive index of thousands of websites, spreading it across many different supercomputers around the world (Technology). When you type a search into the Google search box, it is sent to Google machines and compared against all stored documents. in their index to identify the most relevant matches. In a fraction of a second, the system prepares a list of pages and also determines the relevant sections of text, images and videos. What you get is a list of search results in short little sections, and when you follow the link you will receive the rest of the information (Technology). Google's greatest inventions are the apps they invent every day. Applications, or Apps for short, are the things we use on a daily basis, as part of our normal use of a computer. Google has created a new form of computing called “The Cloud”. With cloud computing, the applications themselves live "in the cloud" on the web and you don't need any software or hardware installed to use them as long as you have an Internet connection. With this great idea, you can access all your information wherever you are from your phone, computer or laptop. Instead of always having to update your programs on your computer, the cloud automatically stays up to date. Plus, your files won't take up your hard drive space, because everything will be stored in a different location, managed only by Google, which you can also access whenever you need. Your files are safe from any hard drive disasters that may occur, such as a crash or short circuit. Any files you upload can also be viewed by your friends, if you choose to allow them. The Cloud can also be used in small and large business situations, to keep everyone up to date on projects, when people don't live in the same area. The Cloud will allow trading partners to work on the same information, without having to save their own file and compare later. The cloud will also allow family members to share photos and files with the rest of their family anywhere in the world. All this is possible thanks to the ingenious invention of the Cloud. Google keepscopies of all information uploaded to many servers, just in case one of them goes down or an error occurs. Your data is always safe in the hands of Google (technology). Mobile devices are quickly becoming the world's largest source of information on the go. For many, a mobile phone is the primary, if not only, way to access the web. Google therefore believes that the best thing to do is to design platforms that work well with all kinds of consumers. Their goal is to create mobile apps that work across devices and locations. Android is a free mobile platform invented by Google, which allows any developer or manufacturer of mobile phones to install on their product. Google believes that by providing a free mobile phone platform, they will open up the spectrum of cell phones, to be capable of much greater usage and efficiency. Perhaps Google's greatest and most recent invention is its web browser, Google Chrome. Google launched Google Chrome in September 2008, with the aim of designing a modern browser that could easily handle all the complexity of the web. “We built Google Chrome based on three ideas: speed, simplicity and security” (Technology). Google Chrome's design is sleek and classic, allowing you to focus on what you're doing online rather than distracting you with unnecessary icons and messages. Although Google Chrome is simple, every aspect of the browser is optimized for speed. Their powerful JavaScript engine allows Chrome to handle complex web applications at blazing speed. Chrome was designed with security in mind, automatically updating when new bug fixes and security patches become available. On top of all that, Google is developing Google Chrome OS, an operating system for a new generation of devices that will share Chrome's focus on speed, class and ease. Google Culture Google is a company that has contributed a lot to the world in the aspect of technology. One of the key aspects of Google's success is the incredible and perfect care given to its employees. At lunchtime, everyone eats at the office cafe, with free meals provided by the company's highly trained kitchen staff. Google believes that to provide premium equipment, all employees must be comfortable and recognize that Google is more than a job, but that they are a family. Commitment to innovation depends on everyone's ability to share ideas and opinions. Each employee is a concrete contributor, and each manages several things and is in charge of many jobs. Because we believe that every Googler is an equally important part of success, no one hesitates to ask questions directly to Larry or Sergey in our Weekly Show of Hands Meetings (“TGIF”) – or volleyball through the net in a business manager. We are resolutely inclusive in our recruitment and we prioritize ability over experience. We have offices around the world and dozens of languages are spoken by Google employees, from Turkish to Telugu. The result is a team that reflects the global audience Google serves. When not at work, Googlers pursue interests ranging from cross-country cycling to wine tasting to flying to Frisbee (culture). The company's headquarters, nicknamed the Googleplex, is located in Mountain View, California. Even though offices aren't identical, they tend to share some essential elements. Here are some elements..
