A Review of Wait Until DarkFrederick Knott wrote the classic thriller, Wait Until Dark, in 1964. The cast consists of several colorful and charming characters, Harry Roat, Mike Talman, SGT Carlino, Jr., Susy Hendrix, Sam Hendrix and the upstairs neighbor, Gloria. The play takes place in a small, dimly lit basement apartment in Greenwich Village. The leader of the three crooks, Harry Roat, encompasses the madness and cruelty that causes white-knuckle scares. Harry goes from one moment calculating to one moment incompetent and indifferent. However, the variety only adds to the character and makes him more believable. Susy, who does not seem threatened by Rout; instead, seems to be invigorated by him from the start and determined to face whatever challenges he might present to him. The second crook, Talman, is a complex character, who appears tough gangster, but must pose as an old friend of Susy's husband. However, he is never called upon to be as steadfast as he could be, and Susy feels little need for his strength to fend off Harry....
