Essay / The Positive Effects of Video Games in the Real World
Video games can have a negative or positive effect on individuals. For example, the article “Playing video games is good for your brain” by Mark Griffiths, director of the International Gaming Research Unit and professor of gaming studies at Nottingham Trent University, claims that “enhanced learning of the regularity of environments may act as a fundamental mechanism by which video gaming influences performance in perception, attention, and cognition. Which means that video games most of the time, for some people, feel alive while playing. Because individuals feel alive while playing video games, it becomes reality again and individuals actually play real life. The reason is that many games currently contain real-life incidents and players gain knowledge from these games. They become familiar with life without even realizing it. In many cases, video games teach players about the real world. In the same way, it helps the player to learn skills, practice real-life events of the game and educate players. Believe it or not, video games prepare people to be ready to succeed in the real world. Finally, video games bring players back to reality, where they must win to get positive results or restart the game to get positive results once.
