If the ad showed a man looking at the sandwich in the ad instead of a woman, it would change what many people thought about the ad. With an advert having a woman as the main point, it fits more into the "cultural norm" as women are used a lot in adverts to sell things using beauty and sex. But if a man were the main subject of the advertisement, it would mean the same thing, but ultimately it would be different. Because the hidden meaning of the advertisement is sex, then if the man were replaced by the woman and did most of the advertising, then the advertisement would depict homosexual sex rather than heterosexual sex. With the controversy surrounding same-sex marriage, the reaction to advertising would change dramatically and the main selling point for sex would be advertising.
