  • Essay / Bk Veggie Burger Case Study - 1486

In 2012, Burger King decided to announce its range of six meatless burgers in India. India is considered a vegetarian-friendly environment due to the large number of people who practice the Hindu religion. Although it does not specifically mention not eating meat in the religion, it strongly advocates Ahisma, which is the principle of non-violence towards all living beings, including animals (Google Dictionary). Nonetheless, the burgers were wildly successful, leading to the invention of the BK Veggie Burger. Burger King was initially hesitant to launch its hamburgers in the United States due to the failure of McDonald's a few years prior. However, vegetarianism is on the rise and without India's large Hindu population, we might never have seen the BK Veggie Burger exist.
