In Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, a character named Clarisse McClellan has this type of effect on the main character Guy Montag and on society itself. Clarisse changes Guy's views and beliefs and helps bring out the overall theme of F451. Clarisse is not a significant character with a major role but she plays an important role in Guy and company in F451. Clarisse shows this because she is the reason society is the way it is, she changes Montag's point of view and because she provides insight into the theme. The first major meaning Clarisse has on the reader and on society is that because of her and others like her, society has become a censored society. Clarisse represents the individuality and personality that creates an unequal society.
