Essay / The advantages and methodologies of rescue robots
INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW OF THE SYSTEMThe rescue robot is a robot that has been designed with the aim of saving people in situations that use rescue robots: mining accidents, disasters urban attacks, hostage-taking and explosions. The benefits of rescue robots for these operations include reduced staffing requirements, reduced fatigue, and access to otherwise inaccessible areas. Since then, many new ideas have emerged regarding rescue robots. These robots are very important in disaster scenarios and will hopefully evolve for the better. Snake robots are a class of hyper-redundant mechanisms that move through internal shape changes. The unique shape of snake robots and their ability to navigate highly variable environments, such as pipes, make them suitable for urban search and rescue missions. There are also various military uses. However, only strong, well-designed and reliable robots will be useful for these tasks. We designed a modular architecture that allows for both a wide range of approaches and resilience to failure. This architecture incorporates a well-refined mechanical design combined with advanced electronics and software. These design requirements led to the development of the versatile Super Servo which proactively preserves itself while monitoring its internal condition. This combination allows robots to perform their tasks efficiently. We took into account common failures of other modular snake robots and designed accordingly. TECHNIQUES OR METHODOLOGIES EMPLOYED IN THE SYSTEM Location: - Lateral undulation - Lateral undulation (also called serpentine crawling) is a continuous movement of the entire body of the snake relative to the ground. Locomotion is achieved by wave propagation from the front ...... middle of paper ...... g product. On the other hand, it is always good for rescue robots to advance in development and provide better performance, so that they can handle any situation as needed. Some future work that could benefit from additional research involves robots and multiple swarms, due to their intelligent thinking that robots collaborated helping each other to achieve a goal. They could be used for mapping, navigation through various obstacles, search and detection. However, building these types of swarm robots can be very difficult and complex, but is certainly an interesting concept to develop in the future. Another part to be developed is the quadcopter, due to its independence to get where it wants, its ease of control and the fact that it is more stable to handle strong winds than a fixed-wing aircraft. It will be of great interest and will certainly dominate drones due to its possibilities..
