People around the world use cars and trucks to transport themselves and their goods from one place to another. Automotive industry analysis therefore provides insight into hundreds of millions of consumers around the world. Since there are cars in almost every country, the supply and demand for automobiles increases significantly every year as people look for a faster and more convenient way to travel. At the same time, automobile emissions add to growing environmental pollution, which also affects people around the world. Since environmental change and automobile use are directly linked, the environment and climate change, as well as ideas for new regulations, have a significant impact on the automobile industry. According to the automobile industry case analysis (Highfill, David et al., 2004), the automobile industry has evolved in many ways in recent years. Regulations are not a recent development: Since 1960, according to Highfill, government regulations have affected the industry. Many of these changes are driven by safety and environmental reasons, and these new regulations are still in effect today. Since many people want to buy large vehicles for traveling and the world's population is constantly increasing, each country has its own demand for vehicles. Some places require different types of cars than others: small cars are popular in South Korea, while large vehicles are common in the United States. In order to combat this trend of buying large cars, some cities have started banning certain types of cars: according to Highfill, the city of Paris wants to ban SUVs within city limits because they take up too much space and consume too much fuel. .
