  • Essay / Philosophy of Nursing Leadership - 1685

I believe that leadership is not something one is born with, but must be learned over time. You learn to become a leader by observing other leaders, but also through your personal experience. People should become leaders; so they can help others do their best. They should not become leaders for the title and power that can come from leadership. Being a leader doesn't mean you have to lead people by telling them what to do. The goal of a leader is to guide others by encouraging them, showing them the way, and challenging them to do their best. I learned leadership through my personal experience. In high school, I played sports and had many class projects to complete. My senior year was the first time my school had a soccer program, and me and two other girls were captains. As we all know, when a group of girls gets together, drama happens too. All three captains had to work together and show the girls that if we wanted this program to be successful and grow, they had to work together as well. It was difficult at first, but when we encouraged everyone, it ended up working better than expected. Also, in my business class, we had a lot of projects that were mostly group projects. During the end of the year, we had a project where we had to create a new product. My partner and I were both seniors and it was a stressful time with finals, SAT scores, graduation, and trying to become an honor graduate. We were tired and just didn't want to do another project, but our teacher, Mr. Brace, didn't give up on us. He showed us what to do and constantly encouraged us every day. He told us a lot of positive things and checked in on us. He was a great teacher and a great leader. Leadership may be a topic...in the middle of a paper...this semester and after writing this paper I discovered a few things about myself. I have discovered that I am very dedicated in the things I do. I also really like helping others and being happy. I think becoming a nurse is what I should do. I may not talk much, but I speak through my actions and my actions will show that this is the right job for me. I believe leadership was put in place to help others do their best. I love God and my family. I encourage others to stay. faithful to God and their loved ones I enjoy spending time with family and friends who have helped me I want others to respect and love themselves for who they are Work cited De Grandpre, Zora. “How to Become a Travel Nurse.” Careers.
