This book explains who wrote the Pledge and when it was written. He also talks about the symbolism of the pledge and its impact on America. It also includes the actual commitment that students must read. Strengths: This book is very informative. It contains a table of contents, subtitles and a glossary. It also includes additional sources that teachers and students can use in the classroom. There are lots of visuals that readers can see and the images show different groups of people saying the Pledge. Improvements: This book was very factual, which is important; however, there could have been a way to make this book a little more interesting for a younger audience. Additionally, most of the illustrations were black and white photos. This book could have contained more colorful images. Illustrations: I would say that the illustrations in this book are excellent.
