The goal of this approach is to promote intrinsic motivation by designing jobs that maintain the five job characteristics which include a variety of skills, a task identity that allows working on a job from start to finish, importance of tasks, autonomy and feedback that allow employees to have clear information about their effectiveness at work. Applying such an approach will lead to increased job satisfaction while reducing absenteeism and stress. Managers are likely to find that this approach leads to increased quality performance and higher intrinsic value.
