Throughout my childhood, teachers, parents, and sometimes strangers would always ask me, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” » I froze for a second and quickly said “A doctor” or “A firefighter”. Now that I'm writing the introduction to this essay, I'm not sure why I would jump into this specific profession so quickly, but it was there, so quickly for me to grab onto. Later, during my teenage years, I finally realized my goal: I wanted to pursue a career in consulting. This has always been part of my plans since my early teens, but I wasn't 100% sure. From my first summer job to now my final stop in high school, the majority of my extracurricular activities involve counseling and/or children or teens younger than my age or a little younger than me. Discovering that I can make a positive impact on a child's life is gratifying and truly a blessing to me. Most counselors who work with abused children primarily try to focus on their feelings and emotions related to their abuse. Counseling sessions are usually one-on-one, but family is an absolute must, having an abused child accounts for 60% of acting out. Child abuse counseling helps children overcome mental, emotional, and physical problems that have begun to build up. Abuse leads to many levels of post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, or somatization disorders. There are many different types of child abuse. Most people think of child abuse, but probably physical abuse. Hitting, punching, and/or kicking are the most commonly reported types of physical abuse involving a child. Unfortunately, there are many other cases of abuse, for example psychological abuse. Emotional abuse involves yelling, name-calling, anything that is hurtful towards the child. Another type of child abuse is sexual in nature. For example, a child may be forced to participate in sexual acts with another person or photographed. The most common child abuse began to be affected without the consent of the person. Neglect is also another form of child abuse. In my future career, there are four different stages of abuse. I will cover physical abuse which deals with the intentional assault of a child. Second, there is emotional and psychological abuse, that is, very harsh behavior that causes mental torment in the child or adolescent that damages the child's mind. Third, there is neglect, parental absence, lack of attention, care and shelter. Finally, Sexual Abuse designates any type of behavior of a sexual nature and aimed at children or adolescents by force.
