  • Essay / Bruce Almighty - 1795

Bruce Almighty is a fictional story about a man who, after enduring a bad day, blasphemes God. He reproaches him for all the bad actions of his life and orders God to answer him. God responds to Bruce, appearing to Bruce as a janitor. After convincing Bruce that he is God, he then grants all of his divine powers to Bruce and tells him, "If you can do it better, then be my guest." ยป Bruce has a lot of fun with his new godly powers at first, but once his world begins to suffer from his selfish use of these powers, havoc erupts. After his girlfriend Grace leaves him, Bruce begins to see the pain he has caused. He then prays to God, asking Him to take back his powers and fix everything. Although it can be confusing, according to Every Student (http://www.everystudent.com/forum/hspirit.html, paragraph 6), Christians believe in the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit. These refer to God himself, Jesus (the son of God or mortal body) and the Holy Spirit who is, in simple terms, faith. These may appear to be three separate entities, but Christians believe that they are all embodied in the same celestial being, therefore one God. Christianity was first introduced by Jesus, who preached that he was the son of God. After Jesus hung on the cross and was resurrected, one of his apostles, Paul, founded the Church. It first became popular in Jerusalem, then continued to spread throughout the rest of the Middle East, eventually reaching...... middle of paper ...... mor is the tool used to recognize the ridicule of racial issues. , although different from this film, Bruce Almighty uses humor to acknowledge the ridiculous problems of Christianity.Works Cited:text: (monotheism - Cultural Anthropology, page 295, paragraph 2)text: (prayer - Cultural Anthropology, page 298, paragraph 3) text: (sacrifice - Cultural Anthropology, page 299, paragraph 1)(http://www.everystudent.com/forum/hspirit.html, paragraph 6)(http://www.gotquestions.org/ born-again.html, paragraph 2).(http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=baptism, definition)(http://www.catalogs.com/info/spirituality/symbols-of- christianity.html, paragraph 7)(http://www.bibleufo.com/anomlostbooks.htm, paragraph 2)(http://www.hope-of-israel.org/cmas1.htm, paragraph 85)(http: //video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8860670051621711477#)
