The year 2012 marked the completion of Frank Gehry's first-ever residential project in Asia, Opus Hong Kong. Designed by a Pritzker Prize-winning architect, this residential complex cannot be described as just another building. Frank Gehry etched his distinctive and whimsical style onto the building, making it beautifully unique. However, this building's appeal doesn't stop with its exterior. Serving as a residential unit, the building has been meticulously designed to fit in with the cultural aspect of potential residents. As the most expensive accommodation in Hong Kong, Opus is equipped with the most luxurious facilities. With only one apartment per floor, the space gives a feeling of privacy and solitude to the owners. Complemented by floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the metropolitan view and terraces designed to accessorize the harbor views (made to resemble ship docks), the venue is blessed with supreme luxury that ideally matches the hedonistic lifestyle of indigenous. In addition, the location of the Opus is particularly favorable. Situated at the top of the mountain, where nothing else can be built around it, Opus offers the best panoramic view, overlooking the skyscrapers surrounded by the lush green of the hills. This very location became the inspiration for the bespoke residential complex. In such circumstances, Frank Gehry referred to the 20th century Art Nouveau style to incorporate the natural essence into his design so that it blends in with the surrounding natural environment. Taking much inspiration from nature, the exquisite facade was designed to mimic nature.
