Notably, the definition of greatest singer would fit the lines of a singer who sang professionally, making him more than average or normal. John Lennon, famous English musician, who became famous throughout the world throughout his life. Lennon not only enjoyed success as an individual artist, but also as a Beatle. He was a founding member of The Beatles, one of the most commercially successful groups in music history ("John Winston Lennon"). Lennon's involvement in political and peace activism also helped him achieve fame; events like his Bed-In for Peace project with his wife and his status as a potential leader of the anti-war movement. Lennon also helped redefine acceptable rock star behavior and became an important symbol of the counterculture. He criticized American involvement in the Vietnam War. Although Lennon's controversial statements and drug use made him a subpar role model, he is the greatest singer and peace activist in European history due to his success as an individual artist and Beatle, his involvement in political and peace activism, and redefining acceptable behavior of a rock star. Above all, Lennon was not only known for himself, but also for the band The Beatles; he was a founding member of the group (Harry). In terms of scope and quality, the musical output surpassed all other achievements in the field of rock, and Lennon was included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 as an individual and in 1998 as than one of the Beatles (McCleese).
