    It is clear from various researches that writing is considered an important skill for students' academic success. As a basis for assessment, universities rely primarily on students' writing skills, as they are seen as an indication of students' linguistic ability and performance in their studies. Universities usually set the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) academic module as the standard entry test to assess students' language skills. Among the skills tested, the IELTS academic writing task is considered the most difficult skill to obtain and requires more effort to acquire. However, some EAP students noted that it is the characteristics of academic writing that affect them. Bennett (2009) described that English academic discourse is associated with distinctive features with unique textual constructions. Given the importance of these issues, it is important to evaluate courses. to identify factors that can contribute to the success of an IELTS and EAP course at the Royal Thai Air Force Language Center (RTAFLC). This article reviews and critically evaluates the “English for Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) Students” Scholarship Program (ERSP). )' in its components and in the approach used in the teaching of writing. The ERSP is a compulsory program for RTAF scholarship candidates under the supervision of the RTAFLC. The objectives of the ERSP are 1) to develop and familiarize students with IELTS testing skills and 2) to prepare RTAF staff awarded an RTAF scholarship with strategies for developing English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and the study skills required in higher levels. on the development of academic reading and writing skills.
