Some believe that teaching and learning should have separate and distinct courses offered by the curriculum by discipline. While others believe that teaching and learning should involve the merging of all disciplines in the courses offered through integrated curriculum design. Historically, the education system was primarily focused on teaching and learning, which focused on the content or discipline being taught. . This type of teaching and learning is known as the “subject approach or subject-centered approach.” In subject-centered curricula, the subject itself serves as the organizing structure for what is studied and how it is studied. In its purest form, each subject's curriculum is designed by subject experts and is intended to be studied using subject-specific methods and tools of inquiry (Burton, 2013). The subject approach is the process of teaching and learning specific subjects or disciplines in depth in isolation. All emphasis is placed on the content area of ​​the subjects or disciplines (mathematics, English, languages, sciences, religious education, physical education, etc.).
