Introduction: There are many theories that attempt to explain the phenomenon of juvenile delinquency and the factors that cause it. There are, and have been, large numbers of young people engaging in delinquent behavior across the country and around the world. What exactly is the catalyst that inspires these young people to commit crimes and deviate from the ethical norm established in society? Are all young people susceptible to the temptation of deviant behavior or only a few? Theories suggest different possible etiologies, including: social factors, biological factors, psychological factors, and physiological factors, among other factors that can turn a child into a juvenile delinquent. There is no single theory regarding juvenile delinquency that can completely distinguish all causes. the determining factors that push young people to turn to crime; however, the study of all these theories and ideas can bring the criminologist closer to discovering the truth about juvenile delinquency. Only a better understanding of juvenile delinquency can help prevent future juvenile offenders. This article will focus on the individual factors of delinquency, as well as the social elements, and provide an explanation of how the combination of these two elements can lead children to engage in criminal activities. Background: Juvenile delinquency is by no means a new phenomenon, although the way in which young offenders are treated when apprehended is constantly evolving. Changes in family structure and urbanization have influenced the way children act, as well as the way they are perceived by members of society.
